Oacoma, located on the west bank of the Missouri River, was established in 1891 as a stopping-off place for explorers, fur traders and steamboat men. In 1906 the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad arrived and Oacoma became known as a “Banking post village”. In the 21st century it has become known as one of the very best stops for travelers on Interstate 90. It is a destination for hunters, fisherman, boaters, and campers and families from around the country. Oacoma is a great location for families and businesses to “ meet in the middle” of South Dakota. Oacoma offers a full service convention center, Arrowwood at Cedar Shore, a resort on the banks of the Missouri where friends, families, and many organizations can meet. We hope you find your way to Oacoma so you can discover why we are your BEST STOP BEFORE the BLACK HILLS.
